Why is the public perception for AI so nebulous?

    • Why is the public perception of AI so nebulous?
Let’s look at some of the reasons:
      – No agreed definition
      – Science Fiction
      – Human Vs Machine Capability

What do you think are the reasons?

      Science fiction & AI

Unfortunately today, we can only look to science fiction for answers of the questions of sentience. The greatest problem with the question of artificial intelligence is that we don’t fully understand the nature of natural intelligence. The human brain, which is the very seed from which the idea of artificial intelligence was born, is still among the greatest mysteries we have yet to solve. Yet, if the day does come that hardware and software become as flesh and mind, we will have a new companion in searching for the basic questions of our own existence.

      Human Capabilities are limited

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has claimed that Artificial Intelligence will be ‘vastly smarter’ than any human and would overtake us by 2025. Back in 2016, Musk said that humans risk being treated like house pets by AI unless technology is developed that can connect brains to computers. I kinda agree, not the AI taking over part but connecting ourselves with the machines.
